ISTANBUL - Abdullah Öcalan's family and his guardian Mazlum Dinç applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and İmralı Prison Directorate requesting a meeting.
The ban on family and lawyer visits to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı F-Type High Security Prison continues.
Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan and his guardian Mazlum Dinç applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and İmralı Prison Directorate requesting a meeting.
Emine Konar, the sister of Ömer Hayri Konar, Polat Yıldırım, the brother of Hamili Yıldırım, and Melihe Çetin, the sister of Veysi Aktaş, applied to the prosecutor's office and the prison directorate requesting a meeting. Erol Atabey, the brother of Ergin Atabey, who was recently taken to İmralı, Şükran Bayhan, the brother of Zeki Bayhan, and Selahattin Yamalak, the brother of Mahmut Yamalak, also applied for a meeting.
Abdullah Öcalan and 3 other prisoners in İmralı are prevented from meeting with their families due to "disciplinary penalties". Between 2021-2024, Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners were given disciplinary penalties at least 8 times for 3 months each, preventing them from meeting with their families.
The reasons and file numbers of the disciplinary penalties were not shared with their lawyers despite all applications. The lawyers who applied to Bursa Execution Judgeship in October were informed that a new 3-month "disciplinary penalty" was given to Abdullah Öcalan on 16 October 2024. No information on the reason for the "penalty" in question was shared.
