AMED – The “Road to Peace: Memory and Justice” meeting, “road map for peace” was discussed.
Organised by the Human Rights Association (IHD), the meeting continued on its second day at a hotel in Yenişehir district of Amed (Diyarbakır). Representatives of civil society organisations came together on the second day of the meeting. Ways and methods for the socialisation of peace were discussed at the meeting.
IHD Co-chair Eren Keskin stated that as rights defenders, they will defend peace no matter on what grounds. Eren Keskin said that since foundation of IHD they always defended peace and disarmament: “Today peace is once again is being spoken in the language of the state. We raise our struggle as soon as we hear peace, no matter what. We wanted the subjects of this war and conflict environment to speak. Although some of the victims of this war and conflict environment are embraced by the state to some extent, some are not seen by the state.”
IHD Co-chair Huseyin Küçükbalaban stated that they had an important meeting with the families yesterday and that they had tried to reach out to many groups, but they could not get the results they wanted. Pointing out the importance of civil society in this process, Küçükbalaban said that they will discuss the road map as civil society.
