ANKARA - Speaking at a meeting of the parliamentary commission attended by Peace Mothers and Saturday Mothers, Numan Kurtulmus emphasised that "our pain is common" and implicitly criticised IYI Party member Yüksel Arslan.

The Commission on National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy is holding its 5th meeting. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş made statements before the meeting. Kurtulmuş said that they would listen to Saturday Mothers and Peace Mothers in the first session of today's meeting.

'DETERMINATION' EMPHASISED

Kurtulmuş said: "The sufferings of Turkey in this process that has been going on for more than 40 years are actually the common sufferings of all of us. I believe that we should not be in any attitude such as competing these pains and putting one in front of the other." Kurtulmuş pointed out that there are some groups who want to poison the process and referred to the allegations presented to the public by IYI Party Ankara MP Yüksel Arslan on virtual media.

Kurtulmuş added: "Putting forward some issues that were not discussed in this commission in any way, that were not even on the agenda in the processes prior to the establishment of the commission, that were not shared by the commission members at any time of the commission, as if they were discussed in secret sessions is, to put it mildly, an open provocateur. Caution should be exercised against circles that may be involved in such provocations. All 51 members of the commission are in a common determination."

'THE COMMISSION FULFILS ITS RESPONSIBILITY'

Kurtulmuş continued as follows: "The issue is really to prevent this nation from experiencing the pains it has experienced again and to carry it to the future with justice in peace, tranquillity and high democratic standards. For this, this commission fulfils all its responsibilities. This commission, consisting of 51 people representing 11 political parties in Turkey, has served with great maturity in the process so far. In other words, we have brought the work of the commission to this day by serving peace, well-being and peace. We hope and wish to successfully fulfil our duties to the nation by completing it as soon as possible."
