KJAR: Without presence of women, one cannot speak of a free future for Iran

NEWS CENTER - Stating that wars between nation states are not a path to the freedom of societies, KJAR said, "Without women, we cannot talk about a free and equal future for the peoples of Iran."Without the presence of women, one cannot speak of a free future for Iran."

The clashes between Iran and Israel continue on the 6th day.

While peoples are harmed by the clashes, Rojhilat Kurdistan Free Women's Community (KJAR) made a statement on the ongoing clashes between Israel and Iran. In the statement, it was emphasised that wars between nation-states are not a way for the freedom of societies and the only way to achieve freedom and liberation is the democratic struggle of women. KJAR also criticised the continuation of the clashes.

KJAR statement reads:

“On the fifth day of the war between Iran and Israel, Israel launched heavy attacks on military centres, state media outlets and hospitals in various Iranian cities. The Islamic Republic also carried out several retaliatory strikes. Clearly, the war will continue, resulting in further casualties and destruction.

This ongoing war is the result of pre-designed policies of the capitalist system, which are intended to create a new geopolitical landscape in the Middle East — this time targeting the Iranian regime. Israel's war against Iran is intended to force the regime to make changes that align with the global order. In other words, the goal of recent negotiations was to legitimise the current assaults.

In wars between nation-states, it is societies, and particularly women and children, that pay the heaviest price. The conflict between Israel and Iran is no exception. However, it is important to remember that the Islamic Republic has been waging war against its own society, particularly women, for years through executions, femicides, and the spread of poverty and unemployment. The core rupture between the Islamic Republic and society, particularly women, occurred long ago, and this war will only make that divide more visible and pronounced.

It must be emphasised that this war is not a war for the liberation of societies, especially for women. The demands of the people, particularly women, are not part of Israel's or Iran's agendas. Representatives of nation-states chanting slogans such as 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî' (Woman, Life, Freedom) cannot herald freedom or promise a beautiful future for society, especially when they lack a genuine understanding of the importance of women's struggles.

It must be remembered that 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî' is not a slogan designed to win over public opinion in Iran, particularly among women, but rather the lived experience of women and men who have risked their lives over the past three years by turning the streets into a battleground for freedom.

Women-led democratic movements have shown that their goals align with creating a free life for all segments of Iranian society. However, achieving these goals requires departing from centralism, religious dogma, patriarchy, and nationalism. The war between nation-states and the global capitalist system offers women only a choice between bad and worse, both of which are forced upon them. Nevertheless, women have not only opposed this mindset, they have also become the flag-bearers and leaders of the fight for freedom and democracy in Iran, the Middle East, and beyond.

The 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî' revolution is a clear example of women’s leadership in democratising society.

KJAR emphasises the importance of organising and building grassroots strength in pursuit of freedom for society, and especially for women. Amid a war of authoritarian powers and patriarchal systems, KJAR stresses that there is no glimmer of light, freedom, or equality. Therefore, KJAR calls on all members and groups in Iran to unite and stand in solidarity by creating people’s committees and popular organizations across the country.

KJAR also calls on all women within freedom-seeking parties and organisations to collaborate and establish a unified voice for women in Iran. Forming trans-party structures in Kurdistan and transnational organisations across Iran is a crucial step towards establishing democracy. Without the presence of women, one cannot speak of a free future for Iran.”
