French philosopher and student of Jacques Derrida Catherine Malabou and Australian feminist philosopher Elizabeth Grosz, known for her work on Jacques Marie Émile Lacan, sent a message of solidarity with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" and the PKK's congress decisions.

 

In her solidarity message to the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, Catherine Malabou stated the following: “The dissolution of the PKK in the hope of leading, through political means and dialogue, the establishment of a genuine participatory democracy in Turkey that respects human rights and defends ecology and feminism, is a responsible move that deserves great praise and support. Certainly, peace is the most valuable political asset and the end of an armed struggle that has caused thousands of deaths is clearly a blessing… The great respect that the Kurdish people have aroused in Turkey and beyond, in the bitterness of their tears, is due to the courage of their commitment… I hope that this will lead to a new form of coexistence, to the decriminalisation and recognition of the Kurdish will.”

 

ELIZABETH GROSZ: EXCITED AND HOPEFUL

 

Elizabeth Grosz's message reads: “I am excited and hopeful about the Turkish government’s negotiations with the Kurdish people in Turkey, the Middle East and around the world… I applaud and affirm the right of everyone to be recognised and heard, to belong and to be part of the transformation to a peaceful, multicultural, democratic and respectful society.”
