ADANA - Families who lost their relatives during the conflict process stated that they are behind Abdullah Öcalan's call and demanded peace and freedom.

Immediately after Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" on 27 February, the PKK convened its congress and announced that it had "ended its work". In many places, political parties and civil society organisations continue their door-to-door visits to explain the process to the people. One of the cities where the visits continue is Seyhan district of Adana. Families who lost their relatives during the conflict process called on the state to do its part to ensure the success of the process.

'WE WANT PEACE'

Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Ceyhan District Co-chair Emine Baykara, who lost 2 of her children during the conflict process, stated that the people should come together and fight for peace in this process and criticised the state for not taking any steps. Emine Baykara said, "We want peace and no more bloodshed. Ill prisoners, especially Abdullah Öcalan, and all political prisoners should be freed. The state should take steps as soon as possible."

Delila Bayrı, who lost a child during the conflict, said that they do not want anyone to die and added, "We are behind our leader. Our demand is peace and freedom."

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan has been extending the hand of peace for 40 years, but each time this hand has been frustrated, Sait Dikme said, "As Yılmaz Güney said, we will surely win. Those who love this country and this land, those who love this geography, those who love Turks and Kurds, extend the hand of peace, be sincere and honest. Peace will come if we embrace each other without fear. Enough tears of mothers should no longer be shed."

'LET THE STATE TAKE A STEP'

Stating that the state should take steps for peace as soon as possible, Görgün Kaya said that the people are behind Abdullah Öcalan and added: "We want Abdullah Öcalan to be free. The most democratic rights of the Kurdish people should be recognised through amendments to the Constitution. The Anti-Terror Law (TMK) should be abolished."
