72 Bars in solidarity with Hatay Bar President 2020-08-01 14:53:20 ADANA - 72 Bar Associations condemning the detention of Hatay Bar President demanded those responsible to be prosecuted. 72 Bar Associations published a statement and said that the bar presidents will be following the investigation.   In the statement which underlined that a reasonable suspicion must occur in order for the law enforcement officers to stop a citizen and ask for I.D, it was said: "It is clear that these circumstances did not occur for our president who was sitting in a cafe filled with families. In case of a general check for I.D's there must be a court decision. The videos clearly showed that our bar president insistantly asked the police officers for that court decision. The police officers have told that they are the law instead of law enforcement officers, instead of showing the decision. Our Hatay Bar President who was released after detention has pressed charges against these officers and the investigation will be followed closely."   Bar Associations signing the statement is as follows:  “Adana, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Ağrı, Aksaray, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Ardahan, Aydın, Artvin, Balıkesir, Bartın, Batman, Bilecik, Bingöl, Bitlis, Bolu, Burdur, Bursa, Çanakkale, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Edirne, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Giresun, Gümüşhane-Bayburt Bölge Barosu, Hakkari, Isparta, İstanbul, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Karabük, Kars, Kastamonu, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Kırklareli, Kırşehir, Kilis, Kocaeli, Konya, Kütahya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Muğla, Muş, Nevşehir, Niğde, Ordu, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Samsun, Siirt, Sinop, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Tunceli, Trabzon, Uşak, Van, Yalova, Yozgat ve Zonguldak."
